Smidge is a dog-training app published by Ofir Ozon. This policy explains exactly what the app records, what leaves your phone, and what we never touch. It describes the app as it actually behaves, not as a category of app usually behaves.
We do not collect anything. Smidge has no server and no account, so the information it records about your dog stays on your phone and never reaches us.
There is nothing to sell, nothing to share with advertisers, no ads and no third-party tracking. Not as a policy we promise to keep, but because there is no route out of the app.
Your dog’s profile: the name you give them, their date of birth or approximate age, and their expected adult size.
Your training history: which lesson you opened, when a session started and finished, and how long you trained.
Your safety answers: if you say during setup that your dog bites, guards, reacts or struggles when left alone, the app records that category so it can keep do-it-yourself content for it locked and keep pointing you to a professional instead.
Your settings and which skills you have pinned to your home shelf.
The dog’s name is the only free text the app stores. Everything else is a date, a number, or a choice from a fixed list.
On your phone, and nowhere else. This version of Smidge has no server, no account and no sign-in, and it does not transmit your dog’s profile, your training history or your safety answers anywhere at all. It works with no network connection because it never needed one.
There is one consequence worth knowing before you rely on it, and it is the honest cost of the sentence above: there is no backup. If you lose your phone, replace it, or delete the app, your training history goes with it. We cannot restore it for you, because we never had a copy.
No camera or photo access. The app has no camera feature at all, and every animation in it is generated artwork rather than footage of a real dog.
No microphone, no location, no contacts, no calendar, no health data, and no advertising identifier.
No account details about you as a person: not your name, not your email, not your phone number, not your date of birth.
No behavioural profiling and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. The app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission because it has nothing to ask for.
The app currently sends no analytics anywhere. It is built to record product events one day, meaning which screens get used and where people stop, and the event list is written so that it can never carry personal information: every field is an identifier or a fixed choice, and your dog’s name is deliberately excluded from all of them.
If we connect an analytics provider, we will update this policy and the version note in the app before that build ships.
Any reminder the app shows is scheduled and delivered by your own phone. The app does not register for push notifications, holds no push token, and there is no server that could send you a message. The remote-notification capability is deliberately stripped from the build, and a test fails if a push interface is ever added without that decision being revisited.
Nothing in the app is purchasable at the time of writing.
When subscriptions open, the payment itself is handled by Apple. We never see or store your card number, billing address, or Apple ID. We receive only whether a subscription is active and when it expires, so the app knows what to unlock.
Smidge is for the adult responsible for a dog. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from a child under 16. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, write to smidgedogtrain@gmail.com and we will delete it.
You can use the app entirely offline. The information described here is generated by using it, so choosing not to enter your dog’s details, or not to answer the safety questions, simply means the app has less to work with.
You can delete everything from inside the app at any time: Settings, then Delete everything. It removes your dog’s profile, every session recorded, and your safety answers from the phone. It cannot be undone, and it does not cancel an App Store subscription, which only Apple can do.
We hold nothing about you, so there is no copy for us to send you and nothing for us to delete on your request. That is not a refusal, it is the whole point: a request we cannot fulfil is a request that never needed making.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your information, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Your dog’s profile and training history stay on your phone for as long as you keep the app, because the history is the product: an eight-week-old record of what your dog has already learned is what dates the plan.
We keep nothing, for no length of time, because nothing reaches us. Deleting the app removes all of it and there is no copy anywhere else.
If this policy changes materially, the updated version ships inside the app with a new date at the top, and the change is described in the release notes rather than left for you to find by comparing two documents.
